The clients business was born out of a passion for beauty by M.E . Honing her skills at a young age in a salon on Newcastle’s Savile Row, she quickly developed a flair for hairdressing. Natural skill coupled with a warm personality, Margaret quickly progressed through senior ranks and eventually became Salon Owner.

Situated in the Bigg Market, the salon flourished, inspiring her daughters to follow her into the trade, qualifying in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy. With her daughters by her side the salon became a family affair and an inviting place to be.

The combination of warm atmosphere and young creative talent has proved to be a winning formula, both for the family and their clients. A visit to their salon is not just an appointment, you are visiting friends.

The business, now re-named and located in a state-of-the-art salon, ensures the family are continuing their journey in style.

What challenges in your business or industry influenced you to look for a solution?

The Salon runs completely on electricity, we recently had LED lighting installed to help with energy usage, though we use electric heaters on occasion along with all the other equipment, which of course use a lot of energy themselves. We noticed our bills seemed quite high, so needed a solution.

Did you have a previous solution that could no longer meet your company’s needs? If so, how did your needs change?

Once Smart Utility Management had finished their analysis of our usage, they made us aware that we had rolled over with our existing supplier, resulting in very high rates. Smart Utility advised a solution to us, which saved us significantly on our annual energy costs.

Why did you choose our firm over our competitors?

The Smart Utility consultant was incredibly personable, and could recognise from the high rates that something was wrong. I felt at ease having everything explained properly and guided through the process at every step.

What did you find most attractive about our company and/or solution?

The process was incredibly straightforward and with the salon being my priority, there’s not much spare time to sort the whole process out myself, so it was great to have that all taken care of. The team were delightful to speak to and the whole experience was stressless.

What benefits have you experienced from working with us?

The main benefit has been the huge savings we’ve made, we’re a competitive business in the heart of the North East and this reduction in costs allows us to look to the future. The financial relief will allow us to reinvest in training for our staff and continue to deliver an outstanding experience for our customers in the salon. There are so many positives to take away, it’s a case of focusing on the business knowing we’re well looked after on the energy side of things.
