ESOS is a mandatory energy assessment scheme for organisations in the UK which assesses energy used in buildings, industrial processes and transport to identify cost efficient energy saving measures.

Since 5th December 2015, businesses with the following criteria must have carried out their ESOS:*

Any company that employs 250 or more people, or has an annual turnover in excess of 50 million euro (approximately £44,593,500), and an annual balance sheet total in excess of 43 million euro (approximately £38,358,079.05), or any overseas company with a UK registered establishment which has 250 or more UK employees (paying income tax in the UK).

*Unless you have ISO50001 then you must contact the Environmental Agency to advice of this.

ESOS requires all qualifying businesses to carry out the assessments and submit the reporting to the Environment Agency form the 5th December 2015 and every 4 years thereafter. The reports are required to assist with identifying energy saving opportunities to reduce consumption.
